Our Peonies
We ship top quality, true to name, bare root peonies and guarantee our quality. Herbaceous and Intersectional peonies are sold as root divisions. Our divisions generally have 3-5 eyes each which is considered a top size division. Many, but not all will produce a flower or two the spring following planting.
Tree peonies are sold as 2 or 3 year old grafted plants which were either grafted here or were grafted elsewhere and grown on here for at least 1 year. All have flowered here for one year or more.
We will not ship you anything that we ourselves would not be happy to receive.
The peonies are dug to order throughout September and October to ensure fresh, ready to plant divisions. We do not store peonies for spring sales. Shipping normally begins the 1st or 2nd week of September with orders being filled in the same sequence they were received i.e. the first orders we receive are the first orders we ship.

Our Prices
Prices shown are in Canadian dollars and all customers will be billed in Canadian dollars. If your credit card is issued by other than a Canadian card company, your card company will automatically convert the Canadian dollar charge into your local currency at the exchange rate in effect on the day I process the charge.
In previous years I have had both Canadian and US dollar price lists. Currency exchange rates are now too volatile to continue with a US dollar price list
European customers will be billed in Canadian dollars.

How to Order
As our quantities are quite limited and we fill orders on a first come first served basis, we recommend you order early. We begin shipping our bare root peonies in early September.

The simplest way to order is to use the secure online order facility and pay by Visa or MasterCard.
Other options available:
1) Call us at 450.458.2759 to place your order and pay by credit card (Visa or MasterCard).
2) Print the order form using the Print Page command under the File menu of your browser. Fill it in and mail it with your payment (Visa, MasterCard or cheque). The mailing address appears on the order form.
3) Print the order form using the Print Page command under the File menu of your browser. Fill it in and fax it to us with your credit card number (Visa or MasterCard). The fax number appears on the order form.
We will confirm the availability of all orders by e-mail so please don't forget to give us your e-mail address. We will not use your e-mail address for other than order processing. (See our Privacy Statement)
If you do not have an email address we will confirm your order by either phone or regular mail.

Terms ***NEW***
Please send full payment with your order. Cheques and money orders should be made payable to: La Pivoinerie D'Aoust. Upon receipt of your order we will issue a confirmation and a receipt for your payment will be sent with the peonies in the fall.
Credit cards will be charged when the order is placed. Post-dated cheques can no longer be accepted. These changes have become necessary because of an increasing number of payments being refused in the fall and are in line with the practices of other nurseries.

Non Canadian Orders
We have many non Canadian customers and we welcome orders from other countries!
Peonies shipped outside of Canada must have a phytosanitary certificate. This certificate is issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and it states that the plants have been inspected for pests and diseases.
We provide phytosanitary documentation for an additional charge of $12 CAD per order.
The original certificate is affixed to the outside of the box and is usually removed by customs as the peonies enter your country.
Shipping costs to the US are indicated below.
Shipping costs to countries other than Canada and the US are charged at cost. We can provide an estimate of these charges. Please contact us before placing your order.
Unfortunately we no longer ship our peonies to France due to recent changes in the French importation procedures that now make the process just too complicated and costly.

Shipping and Boxing
Canadian orders are charged a flat rate of $14 per order ($7 for a single plant).
US orders are charged in Candadian dollars on the following scale:
- 1 to 4 peonies - $18
- 5 to 10 peonies - $23
- 11 plus peonies - $28
We ship freshly dug, bare root peonies starting in September by Canada Post using the service most appropriate for the distance (usually XpressPost or Expedited Parcel)
Our peonies are carefully packed in peat moss and will withstand many days in transit. Our objective however is to get them to you as quickly and economically as possible.

Sales Taxes
Please ensure you include the appropriate tax with your order.
If the order is shipped to NL, NB, NS, ON or BC we are required to collect HST. For all orders shipped elsewhere in Canada we are required to collect 5% GST. The GST and HST are calculated on the total of the order value plus shipping and boxing. If the order is shipped to QC we are required to collect 7.5% PST which is charged on the order value, boxing and shipping and GST.
No Canadian taxes are charged on orders shipped outside of Canada.
Customers in NS, BC and ON. Please note that the online order form has not been updated with the July 1 2010 sales tax changes. Your confirmation will be generated with the rates in effect before July 1. A revised confirmation and receipt will be sent by email shortly after the order is submitted. Thank you for your patience.

Substitutions
Many of our varieties are available in small quantities. We will not make any substitutions without your permission. You can use the Additional Information box to tell us about any substitutes that would be acceptable. If nothing is indicated, we will not make any substitutions.

Peonies as a Gift
Peonies make wonderful gifts! They are plants well suited to both the novice and expert gardener alike.
All peonies sent as gifts are shipped with a colour picture and description of the plant so that the recipient knows what to expect the root to become. We can send this picture along with the plant or directly to yourself or the recipient when the order is placed. This is sometimes useful when giving a peony as a gift outside of the regular shipping season. (I've seen peonies given as Christmas gifts, wedding presents, Father's and Mother's day gifts etc...)This way the recipient receives something on the occasion and knows to expect the peony in the fall.
Use the Additional Information box to let us know if you want the picture sent immediately or with the peony in the fall.
We will send you a confirmation when your gift has been shipped.
If you would prefer to let the recipient choose his or her own peonies, we can provide a gift certificate in the amount of your choice. Send us an e-mail or give us a call to discuss the possibilities.
