Hello Lindsay - you may recall that I ordered Mikawayama last year, and I think you were a little leary about sending it to frigid Winnipeg - well I'm happy to say that it survived the winter very well and is showing lots of growth. The past winter was not quite as cruel as they can be here, a blessing, but I will continue to make sure it is well protected for the winters to come. Thank you.

On aime ça.

This is the first year I have ordered peonies from Lindsay and I was completely blown away by the size and wonderful condition of the roots I received. I have always ordered from the "regular" mail order catalogues in the past and received very tiny roots but these were huge! Most of them have started to poke their red noses out of the ground here and I am very excited to see how they do for me. You can believe that I will be placing another order this fall.

La Pivoinerie D'Aoust has been my supplier of choice for many years. The quality of the root and the satisfaction with bloom are excellent. Whenever someone asks where they too can get a nice selection La Pivoinerie D'Aoust is where I tell them to shop. Roots are large, delivery has always been swift and the bonus of a slip with a photo of the root and description is great for cataloguing. I have never been dissappointed with this supplier. I look forward to perusing the current years offerings!!

My order arrived and I must comment on your generosity and timing! The roots were just wonderful and the extra root of Prairie Moon very much appreciated. I love that cv so much I had planned to dig and divide my clump this fall - now I keep the original nice and big and have a new one to plant somewhere else.
Many thanks again.

It's only in the last 3 years or so that I've been able to indulge my love of peonies, and my garden has gone from 4 peonies in 2005 to 31 this spring. Though I've bought some nice potted plants from local nurseries, most of my bare-root plants have come from Pivoinerie D'Aoust. This nursery has a wonderful selection each year, an informative, attractive and easy-to-use website, moderate prices, efficient delivery, and the very best peony roots anywhere. The roots are huge, with many eyes, and the plants have invariably come up strong and healthy, and put out several flowers the very first spring. This is quite unlike the tiny, spindly roots sent out by several other nurseries I've tried, which have generally taken at least 2 years to flower. As well, Lindsay D'Aoust herself is very generous with advice drawn from her encyclopaedic knowledge of all things 'peony', and provides it promptly, in detail, and with great charm and enthusiasm. Each year, I look forward to placing my order, and I don't think you can go wrong dealing with Pivoinerie D'Aoust!

I'm jealous. Your pictures evoke nothing but happiness. I too have some peonies along the side of my parents home that were planted pre 1940 by my grandmother, and are perfect. Probably because I haven't touched them. Although I've never planted peonies myself your website has stopped me from making all the familar first time mistakes. Almost went to the garden centre this day (4/24/09) to buy and establish a new perennial bed. I'll wait to order from you in late summer (New York). Hope all is well on the farm.

Comme je l'ai deja dit, je suis tres contente de vous trouver. Je vais vous envoyer ma commande sous peu!

Everytime I meet another gardener I always fear the inevitable question - so what is your favorite peony? I love all my 83 different peonies! They all have beautiful flowers and they are to my eyes very nice plants as well. Lately though I have developed a special 'garden respect' for the wonderful 'Red Charm'. Year after year this peony comes back with the same strength, no diseases, and an average of 28 - 30 flowers. I have had it since 1993 and through wet or dry weather this beauty just keeps going. It is definitely a peony I recommend to anyone that likes peonies.

I am in zone 4 with both harsh winters-30 below and in summer 80% humidity with temperatures in the 90-100 range.
I have always loved peonies, even though they have a very short bloom life-so I thought.
Good planning and use of the information on this site extends this short 2 week period to well over 8 weeks in our area.
In addition, I have ordered from other suppliers and have been very disappointed. Upon receipt of my orders from other sources I was agahst at what I paid and received. Roots were very small with maybe one or two eyes and never did they bloom the first year.
Using your company, I was overjoyed when I received these huge roots with as many as 8-10 eyes. Every single plant that I purchased over the last 6-7 years has bloomed the first year even though you always state that they may not bloom the first year.
One plant in particular is "Garden Treasure". The first year I was amazed that it wanted to bloom showing the starts of 5 buds. I instinctly popped off the buds in hopes that next year I could really enjoy my plant. Boy was I glad to give the roots that extra boost. I was well rewarded with about 20 magnificent blooms. Well worth the wait.
With the information on this site, I was able to obtain seeds from my own plants and now am anticipating blooms in about 3 years.

Thanks so much for your wonderful site.

A couple of outstanding peonies I have purchased from Lindsay are Garden Treasure ,a beautiful yellow intersectional hybrid peony with a wonderful bushy form and fragrant yellow flowers and Scarlet O'Hara which makes an outstanding, large showpiece in my mixed shrub border. The flowers of Scarlet O'Hara open red and become deep fuschia pink with age.It glows! Both peonies do not require staking and grow in my sandy soil in half sun. They have delivered even more than I had hoped for!

La Pivionerie D'Aoust is my peony nursery of choice for two reasons. Firstly, because the choice is topnotch and the quality of the roots sent is exceptional. Over the years, about 30 peonies have been ordered and planted in the windswept gardens of rural Ontario (zone 4b), northwest of Ottawa. The plants have flourished and every year I am struck by the breath-taking beauty of the blooms, many of which are the older fragrant varities - Gloire de Charles Gombault, Madame de Verneville, Noèmie Demay (peonies rarely available elsewhere) as well as peonies which play an important role in Canada's horticultural heritage - Louise Lossing, Faith Fenton as well as peonies bred by Ménard and Saunders.
Secondly, I keep ordering peonies simply because of Lindsay - her enthusiasm for this queen of flowers and her indepth knowledge about them. She is open and responsive to her customers' needs, quirks and questions. She is a joy to deal with. Ordering through her website is simple and the delivery of the roots is always timely. Each year, her catalogue offers further varities that I must have. But sometimes in the winter, I simply troll through the catalogue for the sheer visual pleasure. And it's a great way to defeat the seasonal blahs and dream of the blooming months away.

Outstanding quality, excellent service combined with a vast and wonderful selection: I recommend La Pivoinerie D'Aoust with pleasure.

I ordered my first paeonies from La Pivoinerie D'Aoust nearly ten years ago, and I've come back every year since because the quality of the stock is exceptional. To date every root has bloomed--and bloomed well!--the spring after planting and has flourished without cosseting or special treatment. I first ordered as a novice fancier who wanted to branch out from the traditional doubles I'd loved for years, and it has been a rewarding education. From the mahogany richness of Illini Belle to delicate mauve of Windchimes to the dancing gold stamens of Lotus Queen, the singles have been true to the catalogue description and the delight of the first weeks of spring. But nothing compares to my Garden Treasure! Now six years old, it blooms reliably for weeks, covered with spectacular buttery yellow blooms punctuated by shocking hot pink pistils--and the grey-green foliage is attractive long after my other plants have begun to show the wear and tear of the summer. Many garden luxuries are not worth the price, but I've become a convinced aficionado of the Intersectional Hybrids--Julia Rose and Hillary are now part of my landscape too.
Kudos to Lindsay for her high calibre product and even more for her enthusiasm for all things paeony!
